AM/PM Class Activities

Prayer and Circle – After all of the children have arrived the class will have circle time. All children are gathered together and welcomed in a big friendly circle. We sing and take note of who is present or absent, (pre-soot-ney and pre-soot-neya). Memory verses, topics of the day, Star of the Week, Baba Bag, Phonemic Awareness Activities, and new activities are introduced.

After we pray, we play:
Play Time – The children may freely explore numerous child-size learning centers that change each week with the themes and children’s interests. The centers may include dress-up, kitchen, workbench, water/sand table (not at this time), large motor area, fine motor, table toys, science area, library, listening center etc. Children are encouraged to “put away” their toys when they are done.

Arts + Crafts – Teachers present a variety of activities using crayons, paint, glue, paper, scissors, and recycled craft supplies. We encourage the children’s independence and their own ability to cut, color, paste, and create. Each child does his/her own craft so don’t be surprised if all of the children’s don’t look the same. This will also give you an opportunity to watch your child’s skills progress throughout the year.

Clean up – As we sing our clean up songs, all are expected to pitch in to clean up and help make our classroom neat and orderly. We count first in English and then in Ukrainian as a five-minute warning before clean up time.

Washroom Break – Before snack break we use the washroom and wash our hands with soap and water. We say a short poem in Ukrainian with actions:
