Prayer and Circle – After all of the children have arrived the class will have circle time. All children are gathered together and welcomed in a big friendly circle. We sing and take note of who is present or absent, (pre-soot-ney and pre-soot-neya). Memory verses, topics of the day, Star of the Week, Baba Bag, Phonemic Awareness Activities, and new activities are introduced.

After we pray, we play:
Play Time – The children may freely explore numerous child-size learning centers that change each week with the themes and children’s interests. The centers may include dress-up, kitchen, workbench, water/sand table (not at this time), large motor area, fine motor, table toys, science area, library, listening center etc. Children are encouraged to “put away” their toys when they are done.

Arts + Crafts – Teachers present a variety of activities using crayons, paint, glue, paper, scissors, and recycled craft supplies. We encourage the children’s independence and their own ability to cut, color, paste, and create. Each child does his/her own craft so don’t be surprised if all of the children’s don’t look the same. This will also give you an opportunity to watch your child’s skills progress throughout the year.

Clean up – As we sing our clean up songs, all are expected to pitch in to clean up and help make our classroom neat and orderly. We count first in English and then in Ukrainian as a five-minute warning before clean up time.

Washroom Break – Before snack break we use the washroom and wash our hands with soap and water. We say a short poem in Ukrainian with actions:

Time for Two’s is a program for children and their caregivers. Children in this program
attend with a caregiver and the caregiver must supervise their child and are invited to
take part with their child in the activities in the program.

Time for Two’s$20.00One (1) class / week. Wed. 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

The Time for Two’s experience is the first level of our program in what may become your child’s first of three years at
Lubov. We endeavor to provide a gentle and caring environment where your child will have
experiences that will provide an introduction to the classroom setting and routines and
help your child to develop a sense of trust and familiarity with the teachers.

This experience, even though it may only be once a week will see your child enter the next level
of the program with excitement and confidence. At this age, children can’t wait to start learning and playing along with new friends. In what may be their first group experience outside of home, children:

  • Become accustomed to a classroom teacher, setting, and routine
  • Have the opportunity to be with other children their own age and see other role models
  • Have some special “me” time with their caregiver
  • Develop language skills and new vocabulary
  • Begin to learn to share and cooperate
  • Experience a variety of age-appropriate toys and games
  • Begin to create and develop self-expression through open-ended arts & craft experiences
  • Learn songs and body movements
  • Follow directions in a group setting
  • Learn to take turns
  • Develop their listening skills
  • Have experience with a second language

Children ages 2-5 will be accepted according to licensing requirements.

For entry into the Time for Two’s program, children must be 2 years old by December 31 of the respective school year.

We recommend that 3 year old children be placed in the AM program (Tues. Thurs.) and 4 year old children in the PM program (Tues, Wed Thurs) afternoons. However, if the times of the programs do not work for you, or the program of your choice is full, we will do our best to find a time slot that will work. All registration is taken on a first come first serve basis. If the nursery school is at capacity, priority will be given to
1) siblings of previous Lubov children,
2) children who are parishioners or who intend to enroll at IHMS,
3) children within the school catchment area.

Once a commitment has been made, any changes during the school year must be done with written notice to the Director. If a refund is requested a one month fee will be required as a cancellation fee and then a refund will be based on any entire months still remaining.
